At Mountain Star, We Help Animals That We Will Never Meet
Telehealth
Our doctors provide free ophthalmology telehealth consults to Colorado veterinarians.
Continuing Education
We provide free, quarterly ophthalmic surgery workshops at Mountain Star, attended by veterinarians and veterinary students alike. Attendees are provided with the appropriate ophthalmic instruments and mentored in the techniques so that they can expertly help their future patients with eyelid conditions.
Supporting the Dumb Friends League
Dr Chavkin has provided on-site mentorship for DFL doctors for commonly performed ophthalmic surgeries. Mountain Star has donated the proper ophthalmic surgical instruments so that shelter animals can receive the best possible care.
We offer free and reduced-rate services to our nonprofit partners within the community
Since opening our doors, we have donated over $35,000 in discounted and free services to our nonprofit partners. We provide free eye examinations every May as part of the ACVO National Service Dog Exam Event.
Mountain Star Veterinary Specialists certify Freedom Service Dogs to begin training for military personnel.
A longtime and devoted supporter of the Dumb Friends League, founder Dr Matt Chavkin donates his time and expertise by mentoring their veterinarians on ophthalmology care and procedures for their shelter patients. In 2023, Mountain Star recently donated $2K worth of new surgical instruments to the DFL to help upgrade their clinic.
